Just another day.
This morning I awoke at dawn by the neighbours rooster 'Little Red', crowing repeatedly to tell everyone a new day has started. I checked my alarm clock, it was 4:54 AM! Way too early to get up, but nature called in a different way also, I had to visit the bathroom! I hurried back into bed where my two cats, Jackal & Hide, were sleeping cheek to cheek. It seems they didn't even notice the rooster's noise and me leaving the bed. I envied them. I jumped back into bed and tried to fall in sleep again. However 'Little Red' was still crowing, he kept on and on making that annoying Cock-a-doodle-doo' noise. It was impossible to fall asleep. After about half an hour I thought: okay, enough is enough and got out of bed. I made myself a cup of tea and toast to enjoy an early breakfast. I looked out of the window, it was raining cats and dogs, a typical English Summer day! The cats joined me, demanding their breakfast. I gave them some roast beef leftovers from yesterday instead of the normal stuff. From time to time I spoil them a little bit, not too often though. Around six I saw the newspaper boy entering the street, he went from door to door delivering the 'Morning Gazette'. I spent the next twenty minutes reading the news, nothing spectacular had happened, so I focused on the cryptic crossword. It was not too hard this time, solved all clues except one: Event for which one is late (7). I decided to have a look at it again later today. I took a shower, got dressed, did almost all laundry, cleaned the kitchen and finished some other daily chores. At 10.45 I went to the market getting me some groceries. There I bumped into an old friend of mine, he invited me to have lunch in 'The White Lion' a local pub. It was nice to see him again. I ordered Bangers 'n Mash and an ale. Well, more than one ale actually. After the three hour lunch I walked back home, it was still pouring. I felt a bit lightheaded, not sure it was those beers or the lack of sleep. At home I was enthusiastically welcomed by my cats, telling me they were hungry. I cooked them a fish from the market, it was gone in three minutes, and not even some 'rubbing-heads-against-my-legs-thank-you-boss'. Bastards! Instead they started a thoroughly grooming from elbow to elbow. I made me a light supper and watched telly for some time. All in all, it had been a good day, but I was very tired and went to bed at 9.30. I said night-night to the cats and fell asleep immediately.
